Mayor bowser tours skyland townhomes
DC Mayor Muriel Bowser made her 7th official trip to Skyland Town Center on Feb. 5, this time to visit the newly completed model townhomes, which are the latest addition to the mixed-use development.
Joined by Ward 7 Councilmember Wendell Felder and community leaders, the mayor toured the two types of townhomes that will be available. Ryan Homes is building the townhomes; WC Smith Development and WCS Construction were responsible for the land development.
These are the first homeownership opportunities at Skyland. Ryan has begun marketing and selling the properties.
The 4-story townhomes consist of 87 units at 16’x40’ and 39 units at 20’x40’. Homes can feature up to four bedrooms based on homebuyer preference. All homes will include a private roof deck and private 2nd floor deck. The 16-foot units include a single car garage with an option to convert the ground floor living space into garage space to create a two-car tandem garage. The 20-foot units include a two-car garage. The townhome community area also includes 23 visitor parking spaces. Seven of the townhomes will be reserved as affordable: three of which will be reserved at 50% MFI and four townhomes at 80% MFI. The strings of four to seven houses are separated by private mews, green spaces and private alleys.
During the tour, Bowser complimented the “quality, value and size” of the townhomes.
Future plans call for a 24-unit, for-sale condo building. A community park will open this spring.
WC Smith and Rappaport are the developers behind Skyland Town Center.
